STD Testing at Amnion: What We Test For, What to Expect, and Why It Matters
April 24, 2026
Taking care of your sexual health is an important part of overall wellness, but it can sometimes feel confusing or overwhelming. We’re here to make the process simple, confidential, and supportive.
Whether you have symptoms, concerns, or just want peace of mind, understanding STD testing is a helpful first step.
Why STD Testing Matters
Many sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) don’t show obvious symptoms right away. That means it’s possible to have an infection and not even know it.
Testing can help:
- Detect infections early
- Prevent complications
- Protect your health and future fertility
- Provide clarity and peace of mind
You deserve to have answers, and support along the way.
What We Test For
Chlamydia
Chlamydia is one of the most common STDs, especially among young adults.
How we test:
- Urine sample
Common symptoms (if present):
- Abnormal discharge
- Burning during urination
- Lower abdominal pain
- Pain during intercourse
Many people experience no symptoms at all, which is why testing is so important.
Gonorrhea
Gonorrhea is another common bacterial infection that can affect reproductive health if left untreated.
How we test:
- Urine sample
Common symptoms (if present):
- Painful urination
- Increased discharge
- Pelvic or abdominal pain
- Irregular bleeding
Like chlamydia, it can often be asymptomatic.
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)
HIV affects the immune system and requires ongoing medical care if diagnosed.
How we test:
- Blood test
Possible early symptoms:
- Flu-like symptoms (fever, fatigue, sore throat)
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Rash
Some people may not notice symptoms for years.
Syphilis
Syphilis is a bacterial infection that develops in stages and can become serious if untreated.
How we test:
- Blood test
Symptoms can vary by stage:
- Painless sores (early stage)
- Skin rash
- Fever or fatigue
Later stages may have no visible symptoms, so early detection is key for effective treatment.
