Weeks 9 & 10 of Pregnancy: A Closer Look at Early Development
December 10, 2025
Weeks 9 and 10 mark a special point in early pregnancy. Even though you may not be showing yet, your body is working hard to support new life inside of you. Whether you’re feeling excited, nervous, unsure, or somewhere in between, these early weeks can bring a lot of questions and we’re here to walk with you through each one.
Below, we’ll explore what happens during Weeks 9 and 10, what you might be feeling, and how Amnion can support you through this important stage.
Week 9 of Pregnancy: What’s Happening?
By Week 9, hormones are in full swing and often cause stronger pregnancy symptoms. You may experience:
- Increased fatigue
- Heightened sense of smell
- Nausea or vomiting
- Breast tenderness
- Mood shifts
Your uterus is also growing and beginning to stretch to make room for your little one as development rapidly accelerates.¹
Fetal Development at 9 Weeks
At this point, the little one inside your womb is referred to medically as a fetus, and so much is happening:
- The fetus is about the size of a grape.
- Tiny facial features (like nostrils and eyelids) begin forming more clearly.
- The heart has already been beating for several weeks and now has four chambers.
- Organs such as the liver, kidneys, and digestive system are developing.
- Limbs continue to lengthen, and fingers and toes become more defined.²
What You Can Do This Week
- Stay hydrated and eat small, frequent meals if nausea is strong.
- Get plenty of rest as fatigue tends to peak in the first trimester.
- Reach out to Amnion for support, pregnancy confirmation, or a FREE ultrasound appointment.
Week 10 of Pregnancy: Growth, Change, and Strength
Many of your Week 9 symptoms may continue, and some women notice:
- Visible veins due to increased blood flow
- Slight abdominal bloating
- Continued tenderness or fullness in the breasts
Your hormones are helping your body prepare for the months ahead, even if the changes feel overwhelming at times.¹
Fetal Development at 10 Weeks
Week 10 is a major milestone in fetal development:
- The fetus is now about the size of a strawberry.
- Every vital organ has begun forming and continues to mature.
- The fetus can bend limbs and may begin small movements (though you cannot feel them yet).
- Fingernails, toenails, and tiny details continue forming.² 3
What You Can Do This Week
- Continue eating nourishing meals as your appetite allows.
- Try gentle walks or stretching to ease fatigue.
- Schedule your first ultrasound or follow-up at Amnion if you haven’t already.
